Cam4 is the amateur end of the token networks, and it is the only one that puts a Broadcast button in the main navigation next to Login. That tells you who it thinks its audience is. This Cam4 review covers the filtering, the room mechanics, the social layer bolted onto the side, and what the money looks like. It is adult content and the site is 18+ throughout.
What Cam4 is
A freemium webcam platform in the same bracket as Chaturbate and Stripchat. Public rooms are free to access, tokens buy everything else, and models keep their own profiles between streams.
The difference is orientation. Cam4 has always leaned further into gay, bisexual and couple broadcasting than its competitors, and the interface reflects that at every level.
The rainbow stripe in the logo is not decoration. Orientation is a filter, and it is printed on every single tile in the grid.
The orientation filter
This is the thing Cam4 does that nobody else in this batch does. Every thumbnail carries an orientation label in the corner: straight, gay, bisexual, bicurious or unknown.
It is also a filter in its own right, with those same four options plus the unlabelled.
Cam sites that bury this in a tag list make you guess. Cam4 puts it on the tile, and the result is a grid you can read at a glance rather than one you have to open room by room. For a lot of viewers that single decision is the whole reason to be here.
The rest of the filtering
The filter panel is organised but not enormous:
- Show type: regular show, private show, group show, live touch, HD, mobile
- Orientation: straight, gay, bisexual, bicurious
- Ethnicity: eight options including Middle Eastern and Native American
- Body hair: hairy, average, shaved, little
- Hair colour: eight options including bald and grey
- Country and language
- New broadcasters, as a quick filter above the grid
Body hair as a top level filter category is unusual, and consistent with the amateur positioning.
Quick filters sit above the grid and one of them is geo-detected. Mine offered Armenia, which is a nice touch if you want local broadcasters and a slightly startling one if you did not expect the site to know.
Live touch is the interactive toy show type. The site’s own help pages talk about boosting engagement with Lovense, so that is the integration behind it.
Niches
Niches gets its own tab beside live cams, and it is not a live filter. Each niche carries two counters: how many people follow it, and how many posts sit inside it.
Masturbation leads with 19,818 followers and 598 posts. Squirt has 16,732 followers against only 213 posts. Feet has 5,339 followers and 749 posts, and BBW 5,197 against 791.
That ratio is the interesting part. A niche with many followers and few posts is underserved. One with fewer followers and more posts is crowded. For a performer deciding what to make, that page is a market map, and Cam4 offers it publicly rather than keeping it for its own analytics.
Inside a room
The room is dense but well laid out. Player on the left, chat on the right, and a control strip along the bottom that does most of the work.
A goal bar runs above it as a colour gradient, showing the target as a fraction. The room I watched read 128 of 144 with the goal text beneath.
The strip carries a go private button, quick tip buttons at 5, 10, 25 and 50 tokens, a custom amount field, a tip menu link and a buy button for topping up without leaving.
Above the player sit join fan club, the follower count, add friend, private tip and inbox message. A DMCA protected badge sits in the corner of the video.
Chat announces a tip leader with a crown, and tips post as individual events. The viewers count sits in the panel header, and the room I watched had 39 of them. It is conventional and it works.
The social layer
This is where Cam4 diverges most from the others. Model profiles are closer to a social network than a cam listing.
There is an activity feed, a chat wall, a send gift option and a detailed bio. Posts and media get separate tabs, with likes and comment counts on each item.
Media is individually gated. Some posts are marked free, others carry an unlock button, so a profile works as a content library whether or not the model is live. Fan clubs sit on top of that as a recurring option.
Three contact buttons sit under the fan club prompt: call me, text me and tip me. Paid contact outside the live room is not something the other networks surface this prominently.
Likely to be online
The best feature on the profile is a schedule heatmap. It shows when a model is most likely to be broadcasting, switchable between a day view and a week view.
Every cam site has the problem of favourites who are never on when you are. This is the only one reviewed so far that tries to answer it with data.
What things cost
Tokens
Cam4 does not publish package prices on the public pages. The help centre has articles on getting larger token packages and on a transaction fee applied to purchases, but the prices themselves sit behind the purchase flow.
Independent review sites consistently report a token at roughly twelve and a half cents USD at small pack sizes, improving to around ten cents on larger ones. That is third party reporting rather than an operator figure, so check the real number at checkout.
New buyers are offered 50 free tokens on a first purchase, advertised in a banner across the top of the grid.
Worth flagging: the help centre documents a transaction fee on token purchases. Most competitors do not charge one, or at least do not have a support article about it.
Gold membership
There is a separate gold membership tier with its own help section covering billing and card management. One of the articles asks whether you can buy gold membership with tokens, which implies the two currencies are not interchangeable.
No price for it appears publicly.

Private shows and group shows are both first class show types here, so you can filter for either directly. Cam2cam appears as a C2C quick filter above the grid rather than inside the show type list.
The broadcaster side
Cam4 is unusually welcoming to people who want to stream rather than watch, and the help centre shows it.
There are guides on external encoding and OBS, moderation tools for running your own chat room, and a studio section with document requirements and master accounts.
Is webcamming safe? Nothing on a public page can fully answer that, but the safety features here are better than average: two factor authentication by SMS and email, phishing and fraud awareness pages, moderation tools for your own room, and an option to block whole countries from seeing your profile. Members and performers both get a documented route to support.
That last one matters to a lot of broadcasters and almost nobody advertises it.
On money, the site publishes no payout figure. Reporting elsewhere puts the split at around half of gross, which would make the commission structure ordinary for this category. Get the terms in writing rather than trusting a review, mine included.
There is also a help article referencing a specific Swedish legislative proposal, which suggests the compliance team is paying attention to individual jurisdictions rather than applying one global policy.
How it compares
Against Stripchat and BongaCams, Cam4 is smaller and less instrumented. Neither of those publishes orientation on the tile, though, and neither has anything like the niches market map.
Against Chaturbate the comparison is closest, since both are amateur first and both put broadcasting front and centre. Cam4 is the more organised of the two and the more explicitly queer friendly.
Against LiveJasmin it is the opposite end of the market entirely: amateur rather than polished, public room rather than private session. And against MyFreeCams, Cam4 has the far more modern profile system.
Who it is for
If you are not straight, this is the obvious first stop. No other network in this batch treats orientation as a primary axis rather than a tag, and the difference in how quickly you find something is substantial.
It also suits anyone who wants profiles that persist between streams, since the posts, media and schedule heatmap all work when nobody is live.
If you want the largest possible roster or published token pricing, the bigger networks do better. But Cam4 knows exactly what it is, which is more than some of its competitors can say.
